Volfovich: 19th Mechanized Brigade conducts multiple drills within five-day check

Readiness checks will also take place in other army formations and units, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media, BelTA has learned.

The snap military inspection directed by the president of Belarus continues. According to Aleksandr Volfovich, during the five-day check, the 19th Separate Mechanized Brigade completed an extensive series of drills. “These involved achieving combat readiness, loading supply stocks onto transport vehicles, and executing a march through unfamiliar, forested-swampy, and rugged terrain in snowy conditions,” he said. Next up for the servicemen is a forced march.

For two days, the troops have been undergoing qualification exercises in firearms training. “Inflicting fire damage on the enemy is the foundation for the successful conduct of combat operations. It is also important to be able to properly eliminate the malfunctions that objectively occur during the execution of drills. Therefore, the State Secretariat commission evaluates not only shooting accuracy but also the personnel’s ability to clear stoppages that arise during firing,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.

He also pointed out that as the inspection progresses, a daily report is made to the Commander-in-Chief. “The president directs attention to certain issues. For instance, he asks me how we account for the personnel’s ability to operate in forested-swampy terrain? A specific training area for this very purpose has been set up on the brigade’s range and is used by the commander for unit drills,” the state secretary of the Security Council pointed out.

Aleksandr Volfovich commented on the servicemen’s performance at this stage of the inspection. “Despite the difficult weather conditions, the personnel are acting briskly and confidently. Their morale and psychological state ensure the fulfillment of assigned tasks. The attitude of our soldiers indicates they are striving to show good results. They want to report in a way that brings no shame to their brigade and does not betray the Guards title. This is impressive,” the state secretary said.

The state secretary added that the president of Belarus had announced that the readiness inspection in the Armed Forces would continue until spring. “This does not mean this specific brigade will be active until spring. We may inspect it again on certain matters. Other formations and military units of the Armed Forces are next in line. Right now, every commander is speculating about who this inspection will target and how, and who will receive a visit from the state secretary of the Security Council bearing the president’s orders. Everyone must be ready for it. People in uniform must always be prepared, in any situation, to stand to their duty and defend their homeland, our beloved Republic of Belarus,” Aleksandr Volfovich stressed.

As BelTA has reported earlier, the large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces on the order of the head of state began on 16 January. Aleksandr Lukashenko is personally overseeing its progress. A new system has been developed whereby the president, bypassing the Defense Ministry and the General Staff, places military units on combat alert. The primary goal of such an inspection is to see the objective picture. This is precisely why the checks are conducted without warning.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German. If you have information or a station pennant, I will very much appreciate it.
