Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko spoke about the priority areas of Belarus-Russia cooperation at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 27 March, BelTA has learned.
In order to maintain momentum in bilateral trade and fulfill the tasks set by the leaders of Belarus and Russia, it is necessary to take additional steps to eliminate obstacles impeding the mutual supply of goods, to level the playing field for enterprises of the two countries and to remove the remaining barriers and restrictions, Roman Golovchenko is sure.
“It is necessary to accelerate the implementation of the intergovernmental agreements on a common industrial policy and on recognition of technological operations within the Union State. The primary goal of these agreements is to push forward the manufacturing industry of Belarus and Russia. In our opinion, we need to deepen bilateral cooperation, including in the manufacturing industry. In order to increase participation in cooperation chains, our industry ministries need to speed up the work to elaborate and implement legal mechanisms for the recognition of technological operations. We should not scatter finances, we should not create overlapping production facilities. Indeed, Belarus and Russia have retained and improved competencies across various industrial sectors that are largely complementary,” the prime minister of Belarus noted.
Roman Golovchenko named transport and logistics the next vector for deepening cooperation. “One of the main reasons for the rise in product prices is an increase in transportation costs due to changes in logistics schemes. It is necessary to strengthen the coordination in the transport sector in response to the mounting sanctions. A whole package of agreements that have been signed or about to be signed is aimed at mitigating the impact of this factor on prices,” the Belarusian head of government said.
The two heads of state had already discussed the key aspects of the formation of the Union State energy markets. As a result of top-level agreements, a protocol on gas prices for Belarus was signed for the first time in three years, he added.
“In order to strengthen digital independence of our countries, it is necessary to intensify interaction on import substitution of software, recognize electronic digital signatures, give people access to digital platforms of the two countries so that they could use electronic public services,” Roman Golovchenko said.
The ongoing meeting shows the determination of the two governments to comprehensively strengthen the Union State, the prime minister stressed. “The agenda of the meeting is very relevant. I hope that today's agreements will be supported by subsequent actions of the governments of our countries and implemented in full,” he concluded.
