The EAEU countries should do their best to ensure their independence in digital development, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a plenary session of the forum Digital Almaty 2023: Digital Partnership in a New Reality”, BelTA has learned.
“The unprecedented sanctions imposed in 2022 against some of the countries of our union have also affected the issues of digitalization. Restrictions on the sale and updating of software, refusals to supply telecommunications equipment are a certain deterrent to the introduction of modern technologies and services. This once again reminds us of the importance of national sovereignty in the area of digital development,” Roman Golovchenko stressed. “As an example of how we dealt with such challenges is the response to the exclusion of a number of banks from the SWIFT system. Within the shortest time possible, a successful solution was found to enable the transfer of financial messages, and now financial organizations in a number of countries use it.”
According to him, it is necessary to accumulate achievements and scientific potential of the EAEU countries and ensure the transition to a new “digital reality” on their own terms, on the basis of their own developments, technologies and infrastructure. “Especially relevant and promising is the development of new production processes, materials and equipment based on artificial intelligence technologies, big data, robotics, Internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality. We suggest that the Eurasian Economic Commission organize cooperation and coordination in this area,” said Roman Golovchenko.
Digital Almaty is a traditional forum to discuss the digital agenda, new strategies of digital transformation and trends in digital technology. The forum is held for the fifth time. The main topic of the event will be the current global challenges in the development of the innovative technologies industry. The business program of the forum consists of 20 panel sessions with more than 150 speakers - representatives of international and Kazakhstani IT community. It is expected that more than 15,000 people from 30 countries will participate in the Digital Almaty forum. The panel sessions will highlight the accelerated transition of industries from automation to digitalization, prospects of digital mining, areas of application of robotization, development of the IT industry in the Eurasian region.
The forum will feature exhibitions of country technology parks, international vendors, and venture funds. The program also includes the Startup Alley with 100 new projects on display. For the first time the forum will feature the DigitalMinistryCup championship on robotics and innovative technologies among schoolchildren. The largest IT-companies will present their career opportunities.
