Lukashenko concludes visit to China

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has concluded his visit to China, which lasted several days, BelTA has learned.

 

The president took part in the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State and in the SCO Plus session in Tianjin on 31 August-1 September. The summit was the largest in the history of the organization, bringing together around 30 leaders of countries and integration structures.
 
 
In his speeches, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that membership in the SCO is a strategic choice for Belarus. He outlined the key issues for the SCO as an element of the new international order, stressed the importance of creating a unified scientific and innovation space within SCO, and the need for a SCO independent financial mechanism, and expressed support for China’s initiative on global governance. The president of Belarus named five priorities for the SCO family: multilateralism, security, sustainable development as the foundation of the stability in the region, food security, and industrial and scientific development.
 
 
 
 
Another important international event was the parade in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of its victory over Japanese militarism and the end of World War II. Aleksandr Lukashenko was among nearly three dozen other high‑ranking guests attending the celebrations.
 

 

 

During his stay in China, the president held no fewer than two dozen informal meetings with international leaders, including President of China Xi Jinping, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, and Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.

 

Special attention was paid to the Belarus-China agenda. The head of state held talks with Xi Jinping and Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Secretariat and Director of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and had several meetings with representatives of Chinese business circles, including some that were closed to the public. The leaders of Belarus and China effectively launched a comprehensive program for technological and industrial cooperation for 2026-2027.
 

 

A meeting between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin also took place in Beijing. Both leaders emphasized the special mutual importance of bilateral relations, noting that Belarus and Russia are irreplaceable for each other.

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.
