Israel seeks to abolish visas with Belarus as soon as possible

Israel's Ministry of Tourism will make every effort to conclude, as soon as possible, an agreement with Belarus on visa-free short-term visits, Israel's Minister of Tourism Uzi Landau said as he met with the members of the Club for Editors-in-Chief from the CIS countries, the Baltic states and Georgia.

According to the minister, the Government of Israel and he personally are in favor of the visa-free regime and free movement, but the states must take care of their security. “You have seen thorough checks at Ben-Gurion Airport.

These checks are carried out for the safety of both Israeli citizens and visitors to Israel,” he explained.

The minister noted that Israel has recently signed an agreement on the abolition of visas with Georgia, a little earlier with Ukraine and Russia. He expressed the hope that the agreement with Belarus would be concluded in the near future. At the same time, Mr Uzi Landau was unable to name a specific date as the procedural matters are currently considered.

As we reported earlier, the proposal to sign an agreement on visa-free trips was sent over by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to the Israeli partners.
