Belarus-Pakistan ties are an example of a long-term partnership, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vadim Ipatov said during a meeting with a parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, led by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, in Minsk on 25 September, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus-Pakistan ties are an example of a long-term partnership built on mutual trust, respect, and shared strategic interests. Over the 32 years of diplomatic relations, we have come a long way from initial contacts to multi-vector cooperation,” Vadim Ipatov said.
The deputy chairman of the House of Representatives noted the warm attitude of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko toward Pakistan. According to him, this is demonstrated by the exchange of high-level visits, as well as meetings held during multilateral summits. For instance, in September 2026, another meeting between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took place in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. A number of important agreements were reached during the talks.
Vadim Ipatov expressed confidence that their implementation will contribute to the further development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The deputy chairman of the House of Representatives noted that the parliaments of both nations make a significant contribution to the development of the bilateral partnership because they create additional mechanisms for coordinating positions, promoting joint initiatives, and assisting in the realization of mutually beneficial interests.
He recalled that Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid a visit to Belarus in August 2024. This visit laid the foundation for the preparation of subsequent crucial high-level contacts.
