Belarusian commodity exchange accredits first broker in India

The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) has accredited its first broker in India, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

“The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange has partnered with Alabash India Enterprise, a Mumbai-registered company, to develop the exchange trade with India. It is the first foreign broker from South Asia’s largest country to be accredited by BUCE. Alabash India Enterprise specializes in the export, import and distribution of a wide range of commodity and manufactured goods,” the press service said.

As an exchange broker, the company intends to consolidate demand for Belarusian goods among Indian customers, most of whom are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This approach will make it possible to use the exchange platform to organize centralized procurement of Belarusian goods for a large number of Indian companies, thereby simplifying settlements as well as the transport and logistics support for exchange transactions.

“We had long been looking for a reliable partner that could serve as the exchange’s ambassador on the Indian market and help attract new participants from the country. In addition to the necessary expertise in exchange trading, Alabash India Enterprise has extensive experience in cross-border e-commerce and a broad network of business contacts across India. All this makes the company an ideal candidate for the role of an exchange broker. We therefore expect our cooperation to be productive and mutually beneficial,” Yaroslav Kovalchuk, Head of BUCE’s Foreign Economic Activity Department, said.

As of 5 August, 17 Indian resident companies were accredited at BUCE. In January-July 2026, they concluded exchange transactions worth a total of $2.6 million, which was 10% more than in the same period in 2025. Imports from India accounted for 68% of bilateral exchange trade during the period. In 2026, Belarus mainly imported combed wool tops, while Indian participants primarily purchased Belarusian flax fiber through the exchange. The partnership between BUCE and Alabash India Enterprise aims to establish regular supplies of sawn timber to India and, in the future, expand exports to include other Belarusian goods in demand.
