Expert: International status will give more influence to EEU

Giving the status of an international organization to the Eurasian Economic Union will allow its members to wield more influence on international politics, political expert Yuri Shevtsov told media commenting on the recent session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow. “This will allow Belarus, and the other members of the future Eurasian Economic Union to increase their influence on international politics. Such an international organization would become an important subject of international relations and this means that all of us would be better positioned to protect our interests in the geopolitical space and to have an impact on those countries and international organizations with which we would like to cooperate,” said Yuri Shevtsov.
He also drew attention to Armenia and Kyrgyzstan’s intention to join the Customs Union (CU) and the Single Economic Space (SES). In particular, the roadmap of Armenia’s accession to the CU, SES was approved at the summit. The heads of the Troika states also agreed to continue the work on the roadmap of Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the abovementioned organizations.
