Moldova in favor of closer cooperation with Belarus


          Moldova is in favor of closer cooperation with Belarus and would like to implement new joint projects, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Moldova Valeriu Lazar said at the Belarusian-Moldovan Business Forum in Chisinau held as part of the 15th meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Moldovan commission for trade and economic cooperation. Valeriu Lazar noted that in recent years the governments of Moldova and Belarus have managed to consolidate the regulatory framework, to maintain a stable friendly dialogue at the political level, achieve good growth in foreign trade. He added that Belarus is of great interest for Moldovan enterprises. According to him, Moldova’s investment appeal is improving as the country is introducing the European standards, has free trade with the countries of South-Eastern Europe, and in view of the forthcoming opening of the huge EU market for Moldova. In this situation, the goods made in Moldova, including jointly with Belarus, will be able to move freely on foreign markets. One of the promising projects of cooperation with Belarus, according to Valery Lazar, is the production of the equipment to manufacture energy from biomass. Valeriu Lazar also urged Belarus’ business to participate in the privatization of state property in Moldova.
