Mogilev joins UNICEF's Child Friendly City initiative

The Belarusian city of Mogilev joined the Child Friendly City initiative. A memorandum of cooperation between the Education Ministry of Belarus, Mogilev City Council and the United Nations Children's Fund has been signed. Chairman of the Mogilev City Council of Deputies Fedor Mikheyenko said that joining the UNICEF global initiative will give Mogilev a new impetus to the realization of the potential of children, will allow solving, more consistently and productively, city problems for the benefit of and taking into account the views of children, and will help identify and implement a system of effective measures to enhance the welfare of little residents. According to Fedor Mikheyenko, young citizens of Mogilev already have experience in the design and implementation of city projects and programs in civil patriotic education, healthy lifestyle. Victories at various academic excellence contests, creative competitions, festivals, sporting events attest to their high potential. “But I am sure that all the positive achievements and experience of the United Nations Children's Fund in promoting the child Friendly City initiative will help us to work with the younger generation more fruitfully, and make this work more systematic and more efficient,” he said.
