Belarus working to build new partnerships in Latin America

Belarus maintains dialogue with a number of countries in Latin America in order to build new partnerships. As part of these efforts, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Yevgeny Shestakov held talks with the ambassadors of Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay in Moscow on 22 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the press service, Yevgeny Shestakov and Ambassador of Guatemala to Russia Gustavo Adolfo Lopez Calderon discussed key avenues of promoting bilateral cooperation. Belarus expressed interest in holding ministerial consultations with Guatemala and expanding contacts in trade and economy. It was noted that interaction through the chambers of commerce and industry could become one of the effective tools to build partnerships. The parties expressed readiness to continue a mutually beneficial dialogue.

At the meeting with Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Russia Alejandro Arias Zarzuela, the diplomats reviewed the current state of Belarus-Dominican Republic relations with a focus on trade and economy. The Dominican diplomat showed interest in Belarus’ solutions in such areas as mechanical engineering and IT. The parties agreed to explore the most promising areas of cooperation that could be translated into specific projects.

During the meeting with Ambassador of Uruguay to Russia Daniel Castillos Gomez, the diplomats discussed efforts to step up bilateral dialogue. They believe that it is necessary to hold ministerial consultations and a meeting of the trade and economic cooperation commission to discuss the entire spectrum of the bilateral agenda.
