Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the U.S. supplies of long-range ATACMS weapons to Ukraine and voiced concerns over large-scale war as he met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó in Minsk on 26 October, BelTA has learned.
"I am concerned that we can destroy the current system of world order, however bad it is and however much it is criticized. We are taking more and more steps (believe me, Peter, I am an experienced politician) towards a full-scale war with the use of the most lethal weapons," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
"The United States has started supplying ATACMS weapons to Ukraine. They should understand that they are escalating the war. Russia will never put up with this. Neither will we. Therefore, we need to resist this in every possible way, if we do not want to find ourselves again in a terrible deadly war," the Belarusian leader stressed.
"Our position on Ukraine is similar to that of Hungary. Belarus does not need the war, and neither do you. We are neighbors. The war is raging on in our house," the head of state stressed.
"The European Union could have done a lot. Although I understand that the pressure on it from overseas is huge. But I am absolutely convinced that should the Europeans have wanted this, we could have ended the war and come to an agreement, certain arrangements so that this does not happen again," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
