Belarus' PM meets with Russia's Chelyabinsk Oblast governor

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko spoke about the results of industrial cooperation as he met with Governor of Russia's Chelyabinsk Oblast Aleksey Teksler in Chelyabinsk on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

“Chelyabinsk Oblast is one of the most important trade and economic partners of Belarus among the Russian regions. We have quite a tight schedule of meetings. The visit of Aleksey Leonidovich [Teksler] to Belarus in November 2023 largely determined the results and successes we have achieved so far. All our discussions show a high interest in cooperation. The most important task at this stage is to maintain the positive trend that has developed in our trade and economic cooperation. Last year the trade exceeded $0.5 billion. It was almost 20% growth over 2021. The results achieved in January-August 2023 show that there is every reason to expect a steady growth even over the successful year 2022,” Roman Golovchenko said.

He called industrial cooperation the most important area of cooperation. “This is the area where we develop in-demand innovative products. This is the development of the machine-building complex of both Belarus and Chelyabinsk Oblast. You have mentioned the supply of automotive components. Today at the Ural automobile plant we are going to discuss possible niches and projects in addition to supplies. The project on joint development of special vehicles - tanks, cranes, concrete mixers, and others is working very well. We combine the chassis of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) and superstructures from Chelyabinsk enterprises. The total volume of deliveries of our vehicles for these purposes will reach 230 units by the end of 2023. The final products will go to consumers of Chelyabinsk Oblast and other regions of the Russian Federation. Tyumen Oblast, Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts are showing great interest in these vehicles. The geography of supplies of equipment manufactured in cooperation once again emphasizes the mutually beneficial nature of our relations,” the prime minister said.
