Lukashenko inspecting Defense Ministry training facility in Brest Oblast

During his working trip to Brest Oblast, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is inspecting the Defense Ministry training facility Resistance Point, BelTA reports.

The president is studying engineering equipment of the resistance point of the Kobrin fortified area and its capabilities.

According to Commander of the Western Operational Command Vladimir Bely, the military and political situation around Belarus remains tense and the use of military force is still viewed as one of key tools to achieve political and economic goals.

According to him, the events in Ukraine show that defense is most effective in areas where resistance points are equipped in advance, as offensive forces experience huge difficulties in overcoming such defenses.

“One of the ways to beef up defense efforts is to create fortified areas. Their main purpose is to defend the most operationally and tactically important areas and routes to be mostly likely used by the advancing enemy and to repel superior enemy forces and back up our troops,” emphasized Vladimir Bely.

The president was shown the accommodation of personnel, the command and observation post of the company commander, and the utility block.

Inspecting the positions of the motorized rifle squad, the head of state warned against any showmanship. “Even if we are sure that we will not have to go to war with anyone. Window dressing, just like abuse of junior conscripts, will be harshly punished,” he emphasized.

Aleksandr Lukashenko examined existing and perspective means of conducting counter-battery warfare and communications equipment. After that the president was shown an extended training session of a reinforced motorized rifle company using elements of the resistance point.
