Belarus’ Max Mirnyi and Romania’s Horia Tecau have got off to a good start at the China Open which prize pot is $5.185 million.
In the first round the Belarusian-Romanian duo ousted another international duo of Julien Benneteau (France) and Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia), seeded fourth, 6:3, 6:4.
In the second round Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau will encounter the British duo of Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray.
Two other Belarus’ representatives had earlier left the China Open. World No. 2 Victoria Azarenka lost to Germany’s Germany’s Andrea Petkovic (WTA No.43) on 30 September 4:6, 6:2, 4:6. Olga Govortsova, paired with Poland’s Alicja Rosolska, lost to U.S. duo Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears 1:6, 1:6 in the women’s doubles first-round match.
The competition in China will conclude on 6 October.
