Relations between Kazakhstan and Belarus are undoubtedly warm and have a great potential, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu told the media after the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

"Our relations have traditionally been warm, have a great potential for further development. This is indisputable," the minister said. "Our countries are bound by strong ties of friendship, common history and traditions."

For Murat Nurtleu, this is the first visit to Belarus, therefore, according to him, it was important for him to meet with the head of state and with colleagues in order to discuss the prospects for bilateral relations, to map out a specific plan for the further development of Kazakhstan-Belarus cooperation. The focus is on the political dialogue between the two countries, trade, economic and investment cooperation, the situation in the international arena and the interaction between Belarus and Kazakhstan within the framework of multilateral organizations.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry will work throughout the year to organize visits of delegations from Kazakhstan to Belarus with the participation of members of the government to discuss specific issues of cooperation. "First of all, there is a great potential for the development of industrial cooperation," he said.

Murat Nurtleu stressed that Belarus is a technologically strong state. The agricultural sector, including the processing industry, are very well developed here, which is of interest to Kazakhstan. In addition, Murat Nurtleu considers it important to study the prospects for the development of cooperation in the IT sector. Kazakhstan is also interested in the development of relations in  healthcare.
