Belarus’ Consulate General office opens in China’s Hong Kong

The opening ceremony of the office of the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus took place in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China on 4 May, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Attending the opening ceremony was Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Liu Guangyuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Yuri Senko.

Belarusian and Chinese officials noted the positive dynamics of bilateral interaction and great potential for cooperation, prospects and readiness of the parties to develop and strengthen cooperation between the business communities of Belarus and Hong Kong.

The chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region emphasized that “one of the strengths of Belarus as a founding country of the Eurasian Economic Union is its developed industrial, scientific and technological base, which particularly attracts investors from Hong Kong”.

Belarus’ significant role in the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative and the parties' interest in boosting humanitarian ties and tourist potential were emphasized as well.
