Belarus’ vice premier names key avenues of cooperation with Russia’s Altai Territory

Belarus is ready to lend a helping hand to Altai Territory across several economic areas. This matter was discussed at a meeting between Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats and Altai Territory Governor Viktor Tomenko during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the Russian region, BelTA informs.

The parties expressed their intention to deepen cooperation, expand bilateral contacts and implement joint projects in the manufacturing industry. “Our trade is already estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars, and this figure will be revised,” Leonid Zayats emphasized. “Were were off to a good start in January. We discussed our capacities at a joint meeting. Although Altai Territory has enough foodstuffs of its own, we would still like to see Belarusian products on local store shelves. In turn, we would love to import products made in your region,” the vice premier said.

Leonid Zayats expressed his readiness to cooperate in transport infrastructure development. “In Belarus, we produce all types of passenger transport - trolleybuses, buses, electric buses. We are ready to produce the required amount of these vehicles, set up maintenance centers. Here our republic will lend its helping hand. We are also ready to replace elevators in your region, supply the necessary equipment for the construction of water treatment facilities, help with its installation and maintenance. There are a lot of avenues of cooperation that deserve consideration, as they will be  beneficial for both Altai Territory and Belarus,” he added.

The deputy prime minister thanked the leadership of Altai Territory for cooperation and assured that Belarus and Russia have strong friendly relations. He also emphasized the importance of the ongoing meeting and invited the Russian counterparts to take part in the international exhibition Belagro 2023 that is due to be held in Minsk Oblast on 6-10 June. “We have thrashed out plans for economic cooperation. It is not easy, but a start has already been made,” concluded Leonid Zayats.
