Qatari diplomat: Peaceful methods are the best way to resolve conflicts, stop wars

Peaceful methods are the best way to resolve conflicts and stop wars, Charge d'Affaires of Qatar in Belarus Meshaal Al-Attiyah said at a ceremony to mark the National Day of Qatar on 12 December, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat said: “The State of Qatar has achieved great successes in economic and social development and prosperity for the benefit of all its citizens. Qatar also makes a significant contribution to regional and international growth and development. Qatar is a major partner committed to supporting the efforts of the United Nations through its role in responding to humanitarian appeals in international cooperation to resolve crises and supporting development projects in many regions of the world.”

The foreign policy of the State of Qatar is based on respect for international law, protection of national interests and the use of preventive diplomacy to resolve crises and avoid escalation.

“This approach, as well as the positive results achieved through Qatari mediation initiatives in Sudan, Afghanistan, Chad and other countries, has made Qatar an active and responsible player both in the Middle East and around the world. Qatar has become a reliable partner in maintaining peace and stability as a result of respecting and applying these principles,” the Charge d'Affaires of Qatar stressed.

In his words, Qatar sincerely seeks to establish a safer and more just international order with a view to protecting global public interests, especially in the areas of health, education and environmental protection. “The state of Qatar firmly believes that peaceful methods are the best way to resolve conflicts and stop wars. This approach in state policy will undoubtedly continue in the future,” Meshaal al-Attiyah said.

According to him, despite various difficulties, the State of Qatar has made significant progress and development in recent years. Today, thanks to measures taken at the national level, Qatar is at the forefront of countries whose economies are showing stable growth.

“In accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030, the state has prioritized environmental protection. As a result of the measures taken to improve the quality of life of the population, the country has become the first in the world in which all cities have been accredited by the World Health Organization under the WHO Healthy Cities Project,” the diplomat said.

“Qatar is constantly developing its legislative system to bring its laws up to date in all areas. The basic laws regulating different areas of life in the country were finalized over the previous period,” he added.
