Belarus’ export expected to be 11% above plan in January-September

In January-September, Belarus’ export is expected to be 11% above the plan, Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.

“In January-September our export is expected to be 11% above the plan. At the beginning of the year we saw a sharp rise in demand, which was followed by destabilization when the Ukrainian market became unavailable for us and supplies to the European Union were up in the air. Yet, despite all these difficulties, we managed to restructure our export deliveries: more than 140% of exports went to the Russian Federation, we managed to make up for the loss of exports to the market of Ukraine and the European Union. We significantly increased deliveries to Africa (Zimbabwe, Egypt). Success depends on the determination and will and ability to find out-of-the-box solutions. Everyone should think about the future of their enterprise, this is the only path to success,” Aleksandr Rogozhnik said.

He added that the government has set a task for the Industry Ministry to achieve significant results in 2023. “The output should increase by 5%, export should not drop, investment should rise by more than 20%. Now when some imports became unavailable, domestic companies should make the most of this situation,” the minister said.

Aleksandr Rogozhnik added: “The situation that is unfolding today is due to the fact that the EU and the USA discreetly imposed technological paradigms that were mastered only by them. The environmental campaign to reduce emissions created obstacles for the supply of Belarusian machinery to the EU market and the market of the post-Soviet space. Environmental standards were raised, all equipment was produced in the EU and America. And this way, all other manufacturers were squeezed out of the market,” the minister said. He also stressed that it is necessary to draw conclusions from that, to focus on import substitution, and in this context, to retain unique production facilities.
