Import substitution viewed as Belarus’ technological sovereignty, independence

Import substitution is technological sovereignty and independence for Belarus, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at the briefing of military, security and law-enforcement representatives on issues of military, political, social and economic situation on 7 October, BelTA has learned.

“Extensive work on import substitution is underway today. This is the most important task for the country in terms of technological sovereignty and independence,” said Roman Golovchenko.

According to him, an agreement has been reached on a Russian loan to the amount of over $1.5 billion to finance such projects in Belarus. “Seven projects worth about $330 million will be launched before the end of the year. They will mostly be related to the machine building industry,” the prime minister added.
