Belarus’ harvest reaches 7.8m tonnes of grain

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested 7.8 million tonnes of grain so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of early 30 August, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from 95.8% of the planned area (2.082 million hectares).

According to the update information, harvesting was completed on 98.1% of the target (349,800 hectares) in Brest Oblast, 90.6% (326,200 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 97.2% (339,200 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 96% (299,900 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 97% (444,800 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 95.5% (322,800 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast.

Agricultural workers harvested millet from 3,020 hectares, or 25.6% of the target, threshing 7,320 tonnes with the average yield at 24.2 centners per hectare. Buckwheat was cropped from 4,090 hectares (11.83%) with 5,490 tonnes threshed (the average yield - 13.4 centners per hectare).

Belarus threshed 7.835 million tonnes of grain.

Rapeseed was cut from 320,800 hectares of land (88.7% of the designated area), with 836,900 tonnes threshed (the average yield stood at 26.1 centners per hectare).

The procurement plan for 2022 will make up 811,400 tonnes of grain.
