Lukashenko wants smart approach to harvesting

Agricultural workers should make the most of the current weather conditions in the harvest campaign, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his working trip to Myadel District, Minsk Oblast, where he visited the agricultural branch of Minskoblagroservice in the village of Krivichi on 2 August, BelTA has learned.

According to Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo, the harvest campaign is proceeding at a normal pace. As of 2 August, 1.774 million tonnes of grain was threshed, which is about 22% of the target.

Aleksandr Lukashenko asked in detail about the progress and efficiency of harvesting, including the harvesting of winter rapeseed and buckwheat.

According to the president, the weather conditions are good for harvesting. “Don't wait for better weather conditions, the weather is perfect. The southern regions are already halfway through. Be flexible! Don’t expect that the weather will be as dry as in the previous years! This weather is a blessing, you just need to act smartly and devise some tactics,” the head of state said addressing Igor Brylo.

The agricultural branch of Minskoblagroservice was set up and registered on 22 November 2021. The new company was given agricultural lands of poorly performing agricultural enterprises of Myadel District. At present the company has 8,800 hectares of agricultural lands, including 4,300 hectares of arable lands. The core business of the company is production of crops for poultry factories and pig-breeding complexes of Minsk Oblast.
