MAZ ready for annual supplies of 100-200 vehicles to Sri Lanka

MAZ is ready to supply annually 100-200 its vehicles to Sri Lanka. The Belarusian company was visited by Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The President of Sri Lanka was shown a lineup of the MAZ passenger and cargo vehicles as well as the main production line of trucks.
It should be noted that supplies to Sri Lanka can be profitable for MAZ since the country provides an opportunity to sell the equipment, assembled and certified on its territory, duty free. It can be sold to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan.
MAZ Deputy Director General for Foreign Economic Relations Vitaly Goncharik says:
       (record)
“The market of Sri Lanka is absolutely new for the Belarusian company. The country started showing interest in the Belarusian product after the delegation of the Industry Ministry of Belarus paid a visit to Sri Lanka in early August 2013. Sri Lanka is interested in Belarusian buses, trucks both assembled and knock-down kits. The parties are currently mulling over an opportunity to set up an assembly plant in Sri Lanka to produce Belarusian trucks and buses. There is also interest in the urban and tourist buses of MAZ trademark, trucks to transport light cargoes under 5 tonnes.
The automotive market of Sri Lanka is big enough and totals 3,000-5,000 trucks a year. The share of MAZ on it can make up 100-200 vehicles a year”.
