Belarus discusses cooperation with Middle East, Persian Gulf at EXPO 2020

Belarus is working on cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf at the EXPO 2020 in Dubai, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media on the sidelines of the exhibition on 22 November, BelTA has learned.
“As our colleagues from the UAE have informed, the Belarusian pavilion at EXPO 2020 is attracting a great deal of interest and many visitors. About 200,000 visitors have already visited the Belarusian pavilion. This is not surprising because we took a professional approach to plan it and tried to present the best achievements of our country within a limited space. Of course, they attract attention,” said Roman Golovchenko.According to the prime minister, Belarus is not a newcomer to the region. In particular, the country has longstanding and stable relations with the UAE, both business and political ones. “Our participation in EXPO 2020 is a continuation of the work that has already been done. Of course, we will use the exhibition to promote our country not only in the UAE, but also beyond, especially in the Middle East region, the Persian Gulf. Today's investment forum is also aimed at establishing new business connections, new contacts, working out the areas of possible economic cooperation not only with the UAE but also with all the countries in the region,” he said.

Belarus and the UAE are implementing large-scale real estate investment projects. According to Roman Golovchenko, special attention should now be paid to cooperation in the technological sector. “Many visitors to the exhibition are surprised that Belarus is able to produce so much modern machinery, electronic equipment, and IT products. We need to work on these sectors. We need to open Belarus to the world, because we can see that there is interest in our country,” he stressed.
