Belarus win bronze at 2013 RG European Championships in Austria

       The Belarusian national rhythmic gymnastics team (Melitina Stanyuta, Yekaterina Galkina and Arina Sharapa) have won the bronze medals at the 29th Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships that concluded in Vienna, Austria.
      The third place came as a surprise as Belarus were only sixth after day one of the competition. The first day saw Melitina Stanyuta and Yekaterina Galkina performing in the ball+hoop event. Leader of the Belarusian national rhythmic gymnastics team Melitina Stanyuta then scored 18.000 points in the clubs event and 17.866 points in the ribbon routine. Her points including the first day totaled 71.999. Yekaterina Galkina added 17.200 points in the clubs event making her contribution to Belarus’ total result 48.883 points. Arina Sharapa performed in the ribbon event getting 17.233 points. Belarus managed to complete the top three with 138.115 points. Russia became first with 147.114 points with Ukraine second.
The Belarusian junior team (Kristina Novikova, Kristina Sheida, Yevgenia Vensko, Yana Chyornaya, Vladislava Zyryanova and Yekaterina Dolinkina) snatched a silver medal in the team all-round 5 hoops event on 1 June. On 2 June they also won the individual rhythmic 5 hoops bronze. Russia won the 5 hoops routine, while Azerbaijan were second.
