Azarenka on top of WTA Rankings for 50 weeks overall

Victoria Azarenka of Belarus held her world number one position in the latest edition of the WTA Rankings released on 4 February. The 23-year-old Belarusian is now the best tennis player in the WTA Rankings for the past 31 weeks and has been there for 50 weeks overall. Australian Open was the tournament which propelled the Belarusian on top of the WTA Rankings last year. She won the Australian Open title in 2013, which helped her cement the place right on top of the ladder.
The top five WTA players include No.2 American Serena Williams (9970 points). Russian Maria Sharapova is third with 9545, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland goes fourth with 7750 and Chinese Li Na is fifth with 6255 points. WTA Top 100 has another Belarusian. Olga Govortsova is currently 56th with 1074 points.
