A new national space program has been worked out in Belarus, Director General of the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems Alexander Tuzikov said at the opening of the 6th Belarusian Space Congress, BelTA reports. According to the scientist, Belarus is currently focused on several space areas, with one of them being the earth sensing technology. “We have certain experience in this area. Thanks to it we have become members of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space,” Alexander Tuzikov said. Apart from that, today’s important issues include space communication, navigation and education in the area. The specialist also views the development of unified standards as important. “The standardization program will complete this year,” he said. Attending the 6th Belarusian Space Congress event are leading specialists in the space industry as well as space pilots. The participants of the meeting will hear more than 150 reports from scientists representing Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.
