The Lithuanian Transport and Communications Ministry believes that the logistics hub, which is being built in Kaunas, is convenient for Belarus, BelTA quotes Lithuanian Transport and Communications Minister Rimantas Sinkevicius. “Using the hub will be convenient for Belarusian companies. They will be able to store and reload cargoes there for the sake of unhindered transportation further into the European Union,” said the Minister. Lithuania is taking part in the railway project Rail Baltica, which envisages the construction of the standard European railway track that will connect the Baltic states and Western Europe. Rimantas Sinkevicius pointed out that Lithuania welcomes initiatives suggesting joint projects meant to develop the transit potential. “It is time to promote Euro-Asian transport networks with all kinds of transport integrated,” the Minister was convinced.
Speaking about the accomplishments that Lithuania and Belarus have achieved already, the official reminded about the effort to reduce the border-crossing time for trains at the border between the European Union and the Customs Union down to 30 minutes. “It was truly a unique experience,” he said.
