With two golds Belarus finished the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich, Switzerland at the 10th spot in the medal standings. Andrei Kravchenko grabbed the highest award in the decathlon final, while Marina Arzamasova – in the 800m event.
Belarus finished 10th in the medal count. British athletes topped the medal table with 23 medals. The United Kingdom finished over France with 23 medals, and Germany with 8.
On the final competition day Belarusian athletes were close to the podium in two events. Shot putter Yulia Leontyuk finished fourth.. Alena Dubitskaya of Belarus finished 7th, while another Belarusian Yelena Kopets took the 9th position.
In the 3000m Steeplechase Women Final Belarus’ Svetlana Kudelich broke her personal record to show 9:30.99. The Belarusian led for some time but failed the last round to finish fourth. Antje Moldner-Schmidt of Germany claimed the victory (9:29.43, the season best personal record).
