Yevgeny Kurta of Belarus lost the final game of the 2014 European Free Pyramid Championship in billiard sport to Sergei Kryzhanovsky from Moldova.
The competitions completed in Minsk. The rivals held 13 sets which results in 7-6 and the European champion title for the Moldavian athlete. The match lasted for almost three hours.
In the women’s event Russia’s Diana Mironova beat Anastasia Kovalchuk of Ukraine 5-2. Diana Mironova won the quarterfinal against Belarus’ Yekaterina Perepechayeva with the same score. In 2009 gold was won by Violetta Klimova of Belarus. The athlete participated in this year’s tournament as well. Belarusians were repeatedly among silver medalists in the previous women’s events. Belarus claimed only one bronze in the men’s events before.
Belarus has an experience in organizing Free Pyramid tournaments. In autumn 2012 Minsk Arena hosted the World Free Pyramid Championship Finals. Olga Dobryan of Belarus claimed bronze in the women’s competitions.
