The events in Ukraine have brought the issues of regional and international security to the forefront, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said in an interview to the Nedelya program on the STV channel, BelTA reports.
“In my opinion, the current situation is nothing short of a well-orchestrated campaign primarily driven by economic considerations especially in the energy sector as well as by certain political interests. Sooner or later, history will put everything in its place,” stressed Vladimir Makei. "Our attitude to the events in Ukraine has always been clear and understandable. We have been urging all the parties involved in the developments in Ukraine to engage in a dialogue and start interacting so that peace, order and stability would be re-established in Ukraine. This attitude has not changed," said the head of the Foreign Ministry. “For us, Ukraine is an important trading and economic partner. But beyond that, they are our brotherly people. We would like the situation there to get stabilized as soon as possible so that we could continue cooperating in all areas in the normal manner,” Vladimir Makei said.
