Belarus-sponsored resolution adopted by OSCE PA

A resolution on protecting and promoting social and economic rights in the OSCE region that Belarus had prepared was unanimously adopted by OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment during the 23rd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Baku. The resolution was presented by Viktor Guminsky, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, who led the Belarusian delegation during the session, BelTA reports. The resolution will be made part of the Baku declaration. The resolution is designed to draw attention to the problem of social and economic rights and to give an additional impulse to OSCE efforts in this area.

It also calls for the governments of the member states to take concrete measures to improve the social and economic situation. Meanwhile, the OSCE should expand cooperation in this field with international organizations and render assistance to member states in matters concerning the proper provision of social and economic rights.
