Mora: EU would like to study Belarus’ socio-economic model

The international conference “European Union and the Republic of Belarus: Cooperation Prospects” is taking place in Minsk as part of the EU’s Jean Monnet program.
Partaking in the conference are over 140 experts and specialists in European integration, scientists and teachers from Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, and Romania. Belarus’ model of social and economic development is interesting for the European Union participating states, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Ambassador Maira Mora told reporters during the opening of the conference. She believes that countries should know more about their neighbors, study their history and culture, as this is the foundation for friendly ties.
Head of European Coperation at the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dzianis Sidarenka emphasized the importance of the forum, especially in light of the emerging Eurasian Economic Union:
record
“Foreign policy of Belarus has a multi-vector character, and while taking an active part in the integration across Eurasia, we remain interested in developing close and mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union. That is why I hope very much that this conference will help re-energize the European direction in our policy, achieve a better understanding of what EU is today, what possibilities there are in relations between Belarus and EU, and will make a contribution to the development of these relations.”
