Belarus backs UNICEF initiative against violence against children

         Belarus supports the UNICEF initiative that calls for fighting violence against children, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told media. The Belarusian delegation is attending an annual session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the UN HQ in New York on 3-6 June. Belarus’ representatives backed the UNICEF initiative against violence against kids. They also invited representatives of UNICEF and interested member states to take part in the regional conference that will be organized by Belarus and UNICEF in Minsk in November 2014 to discuss the enhancement of national mechanisms to protect children from indifferent and cruel treatment, violence, and exploitation. During discussions about the annual report delivered by the UNICEF Executive Director Yuri Ambrazevich, Head of the Central Office for Multilateral Diplomacy of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, spoke positively about UNICEF efforts meant to help UN member states secure the wellbeing of children, including by reducing children mortality rate, fighting HIV/AIDS, improving access to healthcare and primary education services and helping children in humanitarian emergencies.
