70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation viewed as one of the year’s highlights

       The celebration of the 70th anniversary of liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders will be one of the main events of the year, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said when delivering the State of the Nation Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly:

        “The 70th anniversary is more important than any world championship.
This year we are opening the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War. This is a unique museum in the post-Soviet space, in the world and in Europe. We had to build it because many started to forget about that period of history, about the heroism of our people, the Ukrainians, Russians and other peoples of the Soviet Union in the name of the fatherland. It is very important for young people.”
