The Commission on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia convened for a meeting in Chelyabinsk, Russia on 9 November, BelTA learned from the PA press service.
"The MPs noted that Western countries led by the United States of America have launched a new type of military operation against Belarus and Russia, namely ‘mental war'. The goal is to destroy the identity, alter the civilizational basis of our society and the spiritual and moral code of people. The consequences of the ‘mental war' will show in a generation, at least, and will be impossible to deal with," the press service said.
According to the MPs, the Union State should timely counter this challenge with a whole range of measures both in information and in other areas of activity. "Particular attention should be paid to the younger generation, the most vulnerable section of society in terms of imposing opinions, preferences and direct misinformation. In this regard, the MPs proposed to the Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly to take an active part in the development of measures to counter this type of threat," the press service said.
The meeting participants also discussed the creation of the common information space of the Union State, the activities of media outlets of Belarus and Russia in covering the integration processes and general performance of the Union State media. The MPs were briefed on the status of the action plan to create the common information space of the Union State for 2021-2025.
"As part of the plan, the relevant ministries of Belarus and Russia provide information support for the Union State. In particular, assistance is provided in terms of coverage of the life of the two countries in the state media of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, the construction of the Union State, the programs and activities of the Union State," the press service said.
At the same time, according to the MPs, the coverage of the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly by major Russian channels is insufficient. In this regard, it was proposed that the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia take effective measures to improve the situation.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Commission Gennady Davydko, Deputy Chairman Sergei Pakhomov, members of the commission Margarita Pavlova and Andrei Shishkin. The meeting brought together representatives of the government of Chelyabinsk Oblast, the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Information Ministry of Belarus, executives of media outlets of the Union State, members of the Youth Chamber at the Parliamentary Assembly.

Lieber Dietmar,
das ist wirklich ein Dudelsack :) In Belarus wird es aber Dudá genannt. Eigentlich ist Duda ein belarussisches traditionelles Musikinstrument. Übrigens gibt es viele Arten und Formen von Dudelsack in verschiedenen Kulturen und Ländern von Südamerica bis Indien.
PS: das Lied ist Каляда На Балоце von Тутэйшая Шляхта. ;)
