Belarus’ positions in Doing Business report better every year

Belarus constantly improves its positions in doing business, we learned from Yelena Petrushkevich, assistant professor of the World Economy Department of the Belarusian State Economic University, Candidate of Economics, as she commented on the latest Doing Business report compiled by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation. The report Doing Business 2014: Understanding Regulations for Small and Medium-Size Enterprises ranked Belarus 63rd among 189 economies, up one point from the year before.
“Belarus works for the benefit of the business environment and constantly improves its positions in this area,” noted Yelena Petrushkevich.
The global ranking Doing Business 2014 divides countries into five groups. Belarus and nearly half of the European Union are in the second group with a normal rating. Other post-Soviet countries close to Belarus include Kazakhstan (50th position). At the same time Russia (92nd) and Ukraine (112th) are way below Belarus. “It is positive dynamics for us taking into account the fact that year after year all the countries try to improve the business environment. We have managed to move up one notch in several positions at the same time,” she remarked.
