Belarus is completing the procedures for accession to the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, Vladimir Yemelyanov, deputy head of the 2nd division of drug control and combating human trafficking of the criminal police at the Interior Minsitry, told a press conference. The work on harmonizing the CIS program of cooperation in combating trafficking in human beings for 2014-2018 is finishing. This year, Belarus adopted a new program to combat crime and corruption for 2013-2015. One third of the measures envisaged in the program related to the combating of human trafficking. Vladimir Yemelyanov said that in the fight against human trafficking the government bodies get strong support from international and non-governmental organizations, who, in accordance with Belarusian legislation, are authorized to independently identify and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking.
