Diplomat: Belarus will keep promoting its initiatives in UN

Despite all the difficulties, Belarus will continue to promote national interests on the UN platform, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov told journalists. He is taking part in the annual seminar of heads of diplomatic missions in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“Despite all the difficulties we are facing during our work in the UN, we still believe that this organization is the only universal platform where member states meet,” stressed Valentin Rybakov.

According to him, Belarus keeps reiterating that the UN is not some mysterious structure, it is not a building in the center of New York, but an organization of 193 member states, including Belarus that was one of the 50 founding members of the UN. “Therefore, the UN is all of us,” the diplomat is convinced.

Valentin Rybakov assured that Belarus would continue fleshing out the initiatives for which it is known in the UN. “Belarus is recognizable, Belarus is busy working with other partners in the UN. Despite all the difficulties, we will continue to promote those matters that constitute our national interests and priorities. We have many allies, we have someone to talk to. The voice of Belarus is heard in the United Nations,” the diplomat said.

In particular, Belarus plans to take part in the events scheduled for September this year, including the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week where a high-ranking delegation from Belarus is expected to participate, and the 2023 SDG Summit.
