Belarus and France are working out joint approaches to developing cooperation in the cultural sector. The issue was discussed in the Ministry of Culture of France at the meeting of representatives of the national historical and cultural museum-reserve Nesvizh, Mir Castle and the Embassy of Belarus in France with Head of European and International Affairs Department of the Directorate General of Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of France Bruno Favel. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Collections for France’s National Museums Bruno Saunier. The parties discussed participation of travel companies and museums of Belarus in international tourism expos. Representatives of Belarusian museums informed the French side on the organization of museum affairs in Belarus, government funding of cultural objects and monuments. In turn, the Ministry of Culture of France informed Belarusian counterparts on the mechanisms used to manage the museum sphere in France. The parties took note of the meeting being useful for both the sides in the light of the forthcoming on-the-job training for heads of Belarus’ leading museums in France in spring 2014.
