Brest Oblast increased the export of food products and agricultural raw materials by almost a third in 2022, BelTA learned from the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.
In 2022 processing enterprises of the region expanded the output of the main types of dairy products by 5% and meat products by 8%. This, in turn, allowed increasing the export of food and agricultural raw materials: in January - October it rose by 30.8% and amounted to $1.8 billion. The region accounted for 26.8% of the country’s food export, up by 1% from the previous year.
“Brest Oblast is still ahead of other regions of the country in average milk yield per cow (we expect 6,780 kg per year), its marketability (91.3%) and quality (97.7% of milk is extra-class milk). Brest Oblast is the only region in the country that increased the gross output of animal husbandry by 2.5%,” the Brest Oblast Executive Committee informed.
In 2023, milk production in Brest Oblast is expected to rise by at least 2%. There are plans to build and renovate 56 livestock facilities, including almost 40 dairy farms. More than Br260 million will be needed for these purposes.
