A defeat is a considerable part of the professional life of athletes, Belarus’ tennis player, Olympic champion Max Mirnyi said commenting on his performance at Wimbledon.
In the gentlemen's doubles Max Mirnyi and Romania’s Horia Tecau (seeded seventh) could not enter the quarterfinals of Wimbledon as they lost to Brazil’s Marcelo Melo and Croatia’s Ivan Dodig (12). “Of course I wanted to advance at the tournament. We were fighting and lost in five sets to future finalists, as it later appeared. This is part of the game, an important part of an athlete’s career. We have to lose a lot and learn a lot and continue working in order to win. I have got used to doing this way. If my health, strength and spirit do not fail me, I will continue playing tennis at a professional level to bring joy to my family and all Belarusians,” Max Mirnyi said.
The sportsman partook in the opening ceremony of the Nike junior tour (NJT) tournament in Vitebsk. The NJT tournament is held in 31 countries and has a goal to discover promising talents.
Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau decided to play together at the beginning of the season. They have got one victory in the ATP tournaments so far. They lifted the title in Horia Tecau’s home country in Bucharest. Max Mirnyi has won 46 ATP tournaments paired with different tennis players.
