Veterans from CIS and other countries to attend 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation

Veterans from the CIS and other countries will attend the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invasion, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing. In particular, apart from veterans from the CIS, Belgium, Israel, Poland, Germany are expected to arrive in Minsk. Dmitry Mironchik also said that Belarus’ embassies abroad also hold events to mark the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation. At the events veterans of the Great Patriotic War who took part in the liberation of Belarus will receive anniversary medals and congratulation letters from the head of state. Participants of the Belarusian liberation campaign live in 26 countries from Austria to Estonia. 

Medals and congratulation messages have been already presented to the veterans living in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Germany, Kazakhstan and other countries. The spokesman said that there are plans to present over 23,000 anniversary medals and letters abroad.
