Belarus and Austria established a Business Cooperation Council. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries have resumed joint activities after a 4-year break. The visit of Austrian business representatives included a Belarusian-Austrian business forum and business matchmaking sessions. 170 domestic enterprises are interested in establishing economic relations. More than 100 Austrian companies have already been successfully operating in the Belarusian market. The trade turnover between Belarus and Austria has reached half a billion dollars. According to Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber: "Austria has already made several hundreds of investments in Belarus. The annual trade volume between the two countries makes up about 300 million euros. Austrian companies have implemented a number of projects in engineering, transport and environmental technologies". In turn, Mikhail Myatlikov, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: "We want to demonstrate Austria what the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union are like. We aim at organizing high-quality production in our countries". The Austrian businessmen are particularly interested in the new opportunities offered by Belarus' membership in the Eurasian Economic Union with Kazakhstan and Russia.
