Belarus almost doubles agricultural export to Uzbekistan in 2024

Belarus and Uzbekistan are strengthening their partnership in the agro-industrial complex. Exports of Belarusian products are growing at a particularly rapid pace, almost doubling last year. The matter was discussed during talks between Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Smilgin and a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister Kahramon Yuldashev and Deputy Chairman of the Veterinary Committee Fakhriddin Boboev, BelTA larned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

 

Attending the talks were also Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Belarus Rahmatulla Nazarov and representatives of Uzbekistan's scientific institutions and business circles. The delegation arrived in Minsk to participate in the international exhibition Belagro 2025, which kicks off on 3 June.

 

According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, in 2024 bilateral trade in the food and agricultural raw materials sector increased by 37.5% compared to the previous year. Exports of Belarusian products are growing at a particularly rapid pace, almost doubling, 40.4%. Currently, Belarus supplies Uzbekistan with meat and meat products, dairy products, sugar, fish, and chocolate. Belarus imports fruits, berries, and vegetables from Uzbekistan.

 

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the implementation of joint projects. With the aim of expanding the scope of cooperation, agreements were reached to hold additional negotiations with Belarusian enterprises and organizations on the sidelines of the exhibition.
