Belarus sends humanitarian aid to flood victims in Kenya

Belarus has sent humanitarian aid to the flood-stricken residents of Kenya, BelTA learned from the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus.

To overcome the consequences of large-scale floods and inundations that swept the country last spring, Belarus has sent the cargo weighing about 7 tonnes worth more than Br500,000 on the instruction of the head of state. The humanitarian cargo includes frame tents allocated from the State Reserve of the Emergencies Ministry, clothes and footwear for children and adults provided by the Bellegprom light industry concern. The cargo will be delivered by road to St. Petersburg and then by sea to the seaport of Mombasa in the south of Kenya.

Belarus regularly provides humanitarian aid to countries affected by emergency situations. Thus, since 1999 Belarus has provided international humanitarian aid 86 times to 34 countries. Last year Belarus sent humanitarian aid twice (to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Zimbabwe).
