Belarusian PM comments on regional program, housing construction plans

The One District, One Project program will be continued in 2025, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said on the air of Belarus 1 TV channel on 29 December, BelTA learned.

When asked whether the One District, One Project program will be continued in 2025, Roman Golovchenko noted that it definitely will be. “Almost 40 projects with an investment portfolio of about Br2 billion have already been implemented. We have recently updated the list of these projects, expanded the criteria for inclusion, added the tourism sector. The list currently includes more than 200 projects, 208 to be exact (this does not take into account the completed ones),” he said.

“We will probably rename this program into Regional Initiative, which fit the spirit more. Because One District, One Project is no longer relevant: in many districts there are already more than two projects, and in some districts there are four,” the head of government said.

The prime minister also spoke about the housing construction plans. “We plan to build about 4.4 million square meters of housing. To be more clear, it is about 45,000 apartments and houses. Including about 1 million of them is the housing subsidized by the state, with soft loans. If you look at what we have achieved in the housing sector since gaining independence, we have added about 10 meters per capita,” Roman Golovchenko said.
