EAEU, UAE conclude talks on economic partnership agreement

Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Andrey Slepnev and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi have announced the completion of negotiations on concluding an economic partnership agreement, BelTA learned from the EEC.

“The EAEU is actively building a network of economic partnerships with friendly countries. The agreement with the UAE is an important milestone, given the country's role as a global hub. The agreement will give an additional impetus to trade between our countries, which is already showing unprecedented growth, and will also create a solid basis for further cooperation,” Andrey Slepnev noted.

“The UAE and the EAEU are building fruitful relations based on a shared commitment to long-term growth and economic diversification. The completion of negotiations on the economic partnership agreement will deepen our interaction and allow us to promote numerous synergies,” Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi emphasized.

The agreement will have to undergo national approval procedures prior to its signing.

The decision to embark on negotiations with the UAE was made by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in December 2022. Four rounds of negotiations were held in 2023 and 2024.

According to the EEC, after the economic partnership agreement comes into force, the preferential regime will cover more than 90% of mutual trade and more than 85% of the product range.
