We must not fail ourselves and those people on whose shoulders we are building our state, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said in an interview to ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“The strongest words, which have become the slogan and motto of the current Belarusian People’s Congress, are “Time has chosen us”. Each generation had its own time. The time when it was necessary to defend our homeland in the formidable years of the Great Patriotic War. You probably know that there is a movie called Time Chose Us about wartime Minsk. Minsk. We were rebuilding our Belarus in the post-war years,” Igor Sergeyenko said.
Today the tasks are different, the speaker emphasized. “The president said at the end (of the Belarusian People’s Congress] that we must let down neither ourselves nor those people on whose shoulders we are building our state, consolidated society. The Belarusian People’s Congress proved this,” he stated.
“The election of the governing bodies of the Belarusian People's Congress completes the constitutional reform,” Igor Sergeyenko added. “The Belarusian People's Congress will solve important, strategic tasks for the development of our country. The president emphasized this as well. This includes the social and economic development program, the main areas of domestic and foreign policy. We however still need to build the Belarusian People’s Congress into the country’s state system”.
